You are invited to join families, friends, and the community in honoring the LEGACY of nine extraordinary individuals.

We walk this journey to CELEBRATE, REMEMBER and HONOR the legends Drs. Myles and Ruth Munroe, Dr. Richard Pinder, Pastor Lavard, Radel and Johannan Parks (baby Parks), Captain. Stanley Thurston, Frakhan Cooper, Diego DeSantiago who all left an indelible mark on our community and beyond.

The Legacy Walk to Remember is a self-paced 10K fun, walk, run that marks the 10th year anniversary of the passing of legendary individuals as we  commemorate their life, legacy and the impact they made in our country and the world.

The 2024 Legacy Walk to Remember  – 10K for 10Y Opening Ceremony will take place at 6:00am on the stage just before  the Start line at Fort Charlotte. The 10K and 5K starts at 6:30am.

COURSES

The Legacy Walk to Remember courses highlight

10K

You will start at Clifford Park, heading west on West Bay Street past Arawak Cay. Continue past Saunders Beach walking along the beachfront west towards Goodman’s Bay. Make a U-turn at the second round-a-bout by Goodman’s Bay (at the beginning of the Bahamar strip) and travel east on West Bay Street towards Saunders Beach. Continue to Fish Fry Way and turn left to enter Arawak Cay, then an immediate right to continue on to Esplanade Way. At the T-junction, turn right on West Bay Street to M. Bethel Way and turn left to return back to Clifford Park completing the walk with a “Hall of Legacy” to the finish line.

5K

You will start at Clifford Park, heading west on West Bay Street past Arawak Cay to Saunders Beach. Make a U-turn at the round-a-about of West Bay St and North Bethel Highway to travel back east on West Bay Street towards Arawak Cay. At Fish Fry Way turn left to enter Arawak Cay, then an immediate right to continue on to Esplanade Way. At the T-junction, turn right on to West Bay Street to M. Bethel Way and turn left to return back to Clifford Park completing the walk with a “Hall of Legacy” to the finish line.

PARKING

There is ample complimentary parking available in the Ft. Charlotte area (opposite the start/finish line) and on the side streets in the area. We highly recommend that you arrive no later than 5:15 am to find parking as there may be some congestion in the area.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

On Walk Day, Saturday, November 9th, 2024, special traffic controls will be in place from Ft. Charlotte to Goodmans Bay to Western Esplanade from 5:00 am – 10:00 am.

WEATHER

The average weather in November is absolutely stunning with highs in the high 70s to lows in the low 70s. The humidity averages out to 76%, with the sunrise at 6:30 am Eastern Standard Time and sunset of 5:20am Eastern Standard Time.

LIQUID STATIONS

Water and Gatorade will be available approximately every mile and a half along the course.

The Myles and Ruth Munroe Foundation has partnered with  the Medical Team and Ambulance service of Doctor’s Hospital who will be positioned onsite and along the walk course should you need assistance during the walk.

COURSE HOURS

The 2024 Legacy Walk to Remember is a participatory road event. Walkers and runners are encouraged to participate.

There will be a 3.5-hour time limit on the course for the event. After the 10:30am cut-off period, if you are on the course, you may be asked to move to the pavement should you desire to complete the event. This rule will be strictly enforced.

POST RACE

Once you cross the finish line you will receive your finisher’s medal. You can the proceed to the Walker’s Food Line for water, fruits, and a variety of breakfast soup selections.

This is NOT a race. Walkers and runners alike are all welcome to participate.

Bib numbers will be assigned at Packet Pick-UP

Unfortunately, NO. Walk shirts have already been ordered and we need to honor what everyone ordered. On event day, we’ll bring any extra shirts to the location site. Once the walk has started, and assuming we have your size, we’ll be happy to exchange it for you.

Mailing or dropping off swag packets is not an option. If you are unable to collect your swag packet, we suggest having a third party retrieve it on your behalf. To do so they will need to present a copy of your unique QR code and/or full name.

Yes. The time limit for the 2024 Legacy Walk to Remember is 3.5hours from actual start time of walk. The time limit is a safety issue and applies to both runners and walkers alike. The roads on the course can only managed for the allotted time frame.

YES. Baby strollers and baby joggers are allowed on the course. This is a fun, family, community event and all are welcomed.
